Fun times

Last day of my job. It is somewhat bittersweet but I am excited to start my new digitization project. I was talking to the head of Academic Technology at work and he asked if digital projects were something that I was really interested in. I told him that it was more to the pont of something I fell into continually. Perhaps this is a sign. I don't do much (okay any) of the web design. I do a lot of the background work scanning finding the documents...putting things together uploading them onto the software. I do like making the materials accesible but then again I do hate reading long books online.

I feel that I have fallen behind on these blog enteries. Life moves too fast sometimes. I have gotten alot from this semester no matter how hectic it has been at times.

I am a little scared while also being excited for the fall semester. :o) I will survive. I will enjoy the few weeks off though!!!!! Well off from school anywhy....

Pirating

today is not my day. I was working on my webpage and my page done changed completely out of the blue. Now I am trying to get to the style sheet and the rules aren't showing up...so lord knows where they went. I am slightly more than frustrated.

sooo close I can taste it..

I will admit...I am losing some steam. I am so close to being done for the summer and I am soo tired that come next week I will be quite happy. :o) Not that I don't like being in school/the program I could just stand to sleep for about 3 days straight.

I don't think I would be so tired right now if it weren't for the two weeks of teacher workshops that my job just hosted so I've had to put in over time while trying to finish my work for school at the same time as trying to finish my job because I start my new one on Wednesday. I am super excited for my new job. YAY for a new digital project. I won't be doing as much research which will make me sad (very sad actually...I am such a nerd) but this project will be a great resource. After this grant project though I think I might need to find a real person job. I reallylike these jobs but switching jobs or knowing that your job is going to end after a few months is driving me insane. I like the projects though so it makes me sad a tthe same time. I am so rather confused about life.

we have arrived

Helloooooo Pittsburgh.

We attempted to get into to Pittsburgh in time for the 2600 help session...but our detour led us to another detour. Oh well we arrived and we arrived saftely. The hotel is rather nice. I haven't met my roommates yet.

I am exhausted between preparing for this trip/getting my homework done plus preparing for my work conferences which are running this week and next week. I honestly don't know which way is up anymore. I am glad I didn't have to drive or who knows where I would have ended up.

We had a nice amount of time this afternoon we went to a nice lunch. I am stuffed - I really think I could go for a nap. I might curl up under this computer desk.

I can't wait until things get started.

This article provides a short outlook at the technology that drives us a little crazy. While they don't talk about it much in the article "Digital Rights Management" earned the number 12 spot for most annoying!

KOHA

Koha -- Virtual Shelves

There is the link to my KOHA shelves. you have to be logged in. I saw that some people had a nice little like bibliography but I currently don't know how to do that - I will see what I can figure out.

It is friday night and I finally got KOHA to finish working for me. I have been sitting quietly in the kitchen being taunted by the ice cream truck that must be circling the block. Seriously. that is just not cool.

Now back to reading and doing other things. I also have to get my webpage posted yet. sigh. So much to do and sooooooo very little time.

"Trouble in Paradise"

Affair with iPhone cools when handset breaks - Wireless World - MSNBC.com

Indeed. My boyfriend and I have very different opinions about the iPhone. While I think they are indeed neat and have a lot of what could be great technologies they are going to be annoying. He thinks they are the best thing that ever happened this side of apple pie.

My point goes to show that they are going to have problems. The first round of things always have bugs and I'd rather wait until (it is cheaper) some of those kinks are worked out. I know that whatever technology is probably always going to have problems. (Although according to Leonardo's Laptop, we shouldn't take tech problems lying down) I also don't want to have to scroll every three sentences to read a newspaper article. ARGH how frustrating. Maybe when I am rich and famous I will feel differently.
